I help make websites people love and love to use.

You know that last website you visited? The one where you got totally lost and frustrated and left before you did what you wanted to do? My mission is to rid the world of bad user experiences like that - one website at a time.

Thats' what a UX designer does. Through user research, understanding human interaction and knowing your business goals, I can craft a website experience that's going to be loved and effective, not just pretty.

Ideally, I come in at the beginning of a project, but can help any site at any stage.

Most web projects have a similar project flow, and my services come in at different places along that path.

What I do in the phases of a project:

Plan:

  • Discover the users' needs and goals
  • Help determine business goals in relation to the website
  • Figure out how the user and business goals can converge on an successful website
  • Ensure those goals are met throughout the development process

Define:

  • Conduct stakeholder interviews
  • Conduct interviews with actual users of the website
  • Perform usability testing on the current site and competitors' sites
  • Develop website personas
  • Create conceptual models of the website flow
  • Develop process flows for user actions on the website
  • Define the information architecture and site structure
  • Create the site map

Design:

  • Develop site wireframes
  • Conduct usability tests on each iteration of the design
  • Remain available to the designer for any questions/clarification during the design process

Develop:

  • Interface with the developers to ensure technical & user requirements are in sync

Deploy:

  • Train the website owner on maintaining the website with user objectives in mind

Extend:

  • Periodic usability testing to confirm the effectiveness of the website
  • Ongoing web analytics tracking
  • Recommendations on future enhancements & tweaks to the website to continue and increase effectiveness
