You get to focus on your area of expertise.
You look like a rock star to your clients.
Web development as an industry started out with one person doing it all: design, development, marketing, writing, everything. But as the industry developed and websites became more complex, roles became more fine-tuned and practitioners became experts in certain areas of web development. You, as a professional in the web development world (be you designer, marketer or developer) have developed a high level of expertise in your field, and I think you should focus on that. Let me worry about things like user objectives, task flows, technical requirements, site maps, and usability so you don't have to. The end result: you can give your client the best of your best.
They get a website that's more useful, usable and, above all, valuable.
Typical website projects focus heavily on design and development, but hardly any effort is spent in the vital pre-design phases of planning and defining. The problem is, that's where most of the value and usefulness of a website is determined! By focusing on things like the user experience (UX) design, business goals, usability, and information architecture of a website, I can provide the designers & developers with a blueprint of a site that is effective first and foremost. Your client will love you, and their site will achieve the right goals and reach the right people.
Clever Cubed, Inc. is actually a one-man UX Design, Usability and Information Architecture firm based in Fort Collins, Colorado. I make websites better before they’re built—while making improvements is still easy. The term that best describes what I do is "website architect": I design the underlying architecture – the blueprint – of a website before the graphic design and programming gets underway. By doing this I can ensure a solid base, a focus on user needs, and fewer problems. The end result: a better, more effective website.
Floating Point Media, Inc. was a full-service web design and development agency founded in 2004 by me, Steve Martin. We did what most web design companies do: tried to be all things to all people. But early in 2010 I decided to change directions and go deeper instead of wider in the web development world. Leaving the graphic design, web marketing, and programming to others more qualified, I focused on my true area of expertise: User Experience (UX) design. Along with that change in direction came a change in name: Clever Cubed, Inc.
While I occasionally work directly with website owners, I primarily partner with amazing graphic designers, web developers (programmers), and marketing/advertising agencies to bring their clients’ websites up to the next level of effectiveness.
Principal UX Designer:
Hi there, I'm Steve Martin, Clever Cubed owner and User Experience Designer. I've worked in the web design industry since 2001 and have been involved in all aspects of website design and development. From 2004 to 2010 I owned Floating Point Media, Inc., a full-service web design agency in Colorado Springs and Fort Collins, Colorado, and from 2004 to 2006 was a partner in Ecommerce Rep, LLC, a consulting firm based in Colorado Springs, Colorado that assisted large manufacturers in selling their products direct to the public online.
UX Design, Usability, Information Architecture and Colorado are passions of mine. I can usually be found around Old Town, Fort Collins on my bike or in my bright orange vintage Beetle with coffee in one hand and sketching a site-map with the other.
